is a "cooler" redneck because of his phone

« on: June 28, 2009, 06:28:58 AM »

I was in a rural area the other day and my phone was roaming (not a big deal usually) and a notification continuously kept popping up telling me that the phone could not make a data connection and to call sprint.  I dismissed it, but the dang thing kept coming up every few seconds and it's notification includes a sound.  It became rather annoying as I was in a conversation with one of my clients.

I have searched like crazy on my phone to try to find notification options, but havent found any.

any tips, tricks, or what not?

I know you can turn off roaming... Then it might stop showing that.

But for some reason I can't see remember how.

EDIT:

Found it in the userguide.

Roaming settings are in the phone app. Go to phone app, go to preferences, click preferences. Scroll down to network. There are your roaming settings.

I have my data roaming disabled and I have never gotten that message.

Hope this helps!

Thanks

I have tried it with data roaming on and off.  I get it regardless of that when I lose data coverage.   I just wish I could tell the phone what I want it to do with regards of notifications and such.  I dont need it to tell me I dont have data coverage 500 times when I am in BFE, I know I am going to probably not have any signal whatsoever in the middle of nowhere.

Same thing happened to me yesterday! It was quite annoying. Hopefully, Palm does something about this in the next update.

Dang this happened to me yesterday. Never seen it before.

I find that if you don't press "Ok" and leave it on the screen it doesn't vibrate or beep again... So if you aren't using your phone just leave it there.
