After three weeks on a waiting list, I had an appointment today to get my new Pixi. I've been a Sprint customer for about 15 years. I went to the Sprint Store (a large service center) and got the phone. The technician upgraded my plan, then set up the phone. He was not able to get the profile entered. I entered my name, a password, and my email address. The phone gave a message saying the "network connection failed". He called two or three tech support people, and no one could get it to work. After two hours I told him to cancel it and keep my old plan, and my old, trusty Palm Treo. I've had Palm Pilots since they were introduced, and I have been eagerly waiting for the Pixi. The way I feel now, I'm going to an iPhone, regardless of how bad AT&T service is.

Well before you go for an iPhone you should wait for a while! Because that is definitely not normal, those Sprint people had probably no idea, but I wouldn't blame the phone. Do you have another Sprint store or BestBuy near by? Give it another try, it's worth it.

The store I went to is a larege, "Ready Now" (hah!) store, offering sales and service. There is a small Sprint store in my neighborhood, but I wouldn't trust them with a rotary-dial phone. There is also a Best Buy in the area.

Well then try the smaller Sprint store Or the BB. I'm just saying because the phone is awesome, it would be a shame if some Sprint people ruined that experience.

I would keep trying, as a matter of fact I ended up getting my palm pre at a smaller sprint store. The guy who helped me was awsome, sorry you had such a bad experience.

I'm giving them one more chance; I have an appointment at 2:30 tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon -- at the same Sprint store. I plan to be out of there by 4:00, either with a new Palm Pixi or with cancelled Sprint service and directions to the nearest AT&T store.

Good luck, actually you really shouldn't have any problems. Tell them how you feel.. and tell us how it went

yes, definitely try again - the pre is truly awesome. worth my wait on launch morning at my little neighborhood sprint store - sat outside the store by myself from 0615 until 0730 when a few guys showed up. really wanted to get this phone as soon as available! had the experience of my phone getting 'stuck' when they tried to activate me on 6/6 & they had to do the 'remove the battery' hard reset. was a little worried that would be an ongoing problem but have not had to do the same level of reset since - just a couple 'soft' resets to clear things up/speed things up.

Removing the battery did not help the "network not connected" problem. I'm anxious to see what happens tomorrow, and I'm not optimistic..................

Go to the best buy! Instant rebate on the phone and my experience was awesome! They had it setup and running in just a few minutes.
