Is anyone else having this problem? The screen goes black during a call and does not come back on when you move the phone away from your ear or if you slide the keyboard out or touch the screen. No matter what I do, the screen doesn't come back on but the call is still active. It seems to be happening with inbound and outbound calls that involve an automated system. It's happened about 5 times since I got the phone June 6.

For example, tt happened last night when my dr's office called to confirm an appointment (inbound call). The automated call asked me to hit "1" to confirm my appointment, but the screen was black so I couldn't tell where the "1" was, and couldn't get the screen to come up (and I didn't think to use the keyboard-duh), so my appointment was cancelled  Angry

It also happened when I had to call my husband's doctor and needed to enter an extension #, but the screen was black so I couldn't hit the ext. # and I couldn't disconnect the call (outbound call) and the message just kept going in circles.

It has happened a few other times. I already had to replace the phone once, it died the second day I had it so Sprint did replace it but they had set it up wrong (had mine and my husband's phone #'s mixed up) so it ended up taking an hour.

Sorry so long! Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, I'm going to take it back to Sprint this weekend and see if I can get a new one.

Hmmm I have not heard of this problem before. Like all brand new devices there will be quirks that you have to deal with being an early adopter I mean if you think of it the phone is still kinda in a public beta. I'm sure Sprint will help you out, and I wish you good luck.

That is a feature, ebnykween.

Built in sensors.

Up to ear:  off.
Away from ear: on.

If it came on when up to your ear or off when laid flat trying to view, you'd have un problemo.

Is anyone else having this problem? The screen goes black during a call and does not come back on

Completely different.  You're good to go!  Wink

Hey thanks, ppf.

One more Q, when I am playing pandora, every time a new song comes on the screen lights up showing the artist and song, then fades away, but my husband's does not light up at all.  Is this an issue or are our phone settings set up differently?  I've tried to put both phones next to each other and compare the settings but see nothing different.

I was google-ing and came across this thread because I has the same problem with my pixi.  Every time I make/receive a call my touch screen would go blank.  It made me think there were problems with my pixi.  I got the phone about 3 weeks ago.  Until I have my screen protector, I was hesitant to take off the film screen protector that came with the phone.  The top part was peeling and it had dust on the film.  I was trying to figure out how it keeps going blanks on calls and when it went blank again... I lift off the protector from the sensor (IR look-a-like-thinging) left of the phone speaker.  My screen came back on again.   Cheesy

So make sure the sensor is clear of dust or other stuff that may block light.

WOW, so glad I found this forum!  I was just having the same exacpt problem with my Palm Pixi.  I was trying to make a phone call and everytime the screen would go completely black and the only way for me to get it off of the call was to remove the battery pack!  Thank you the "VERY HELPFUL" information on the screen protector!!!!  I was also trying to keep my screen protector on there as long as I could, well come to find out that was the problem with my touch screen going black!  Thank you so much, extremely helpful!!  Glad I searched this before I called Sprint and made myself look like an idiot, haha.  Tongue
