My brother has iphone so im comparing them right now.  I will keep updating this as i find more stuff.  I like both phones and want everyone to know what the real differences are without all the fanboy stuff.

iphone 3gs

larger screen
Landscape touch keyboard
Portrait touch keyboard
video recording
lots of apps already
voice dialing
more memory
music equalizer
many more adapters are already made for iphone
compass
free nights start at 9pm with at&t

palm pre

much smaller phone
MMS messaging
multitasking
battery is removable
real portrait keyboard
sprint costs less.. after 2 years iphone is $1200 more
video quality over web is much better on pre seriously a lot
palm syncs for free with contacts and calendars and everything over the air.  mobile me on iphone does this but costs 100 a year.
sprint navigation is free.. tom tom on iphone will cost money monthly
sprint has sprint tv some is free
pre combines converstations. so if your texting and get an instant messages from that person on aim it comes up in the same convo the iphone doesnt even let you know you got an instant message unless the app is open.  Pixi shows them like texts.
free nights start at 7pm with sprint 2 hours before at&t

Because the speed of the phones are so close I dont think it can be said that anyone is faster.  Also the internet browsers and touch screen function about the same.

I have an iPhone with a dead phone and a Pixi, and there is one feature on each that I keep wishing both had.

On the Pixi, I still find myself pushing the lower center button to turn the device on.

On the iPhone, I find myself using the back gesture of the Pixi (lower left swipe) to go back a page.

I agree, I find that I have features on both that I wish could be integrated into one phone.  The gestures area is a must for future phones IMO, its so great and easy to use.  Makes accessing everything so much easier!

Congratulations! Not for choosing the Pixi, but for finding the right phone for you and your needs!

Also, I wouldn't underestimate that "show-off" argument Wink

It is funny that you say that, because people who saw the Pixi were impressed!  But it was because of what the phone could do and not just because it was an iPhone.  I dont mind that kind of paparazzi :-).

Yeah, no one gived a crap about my old instinct. Then all of a sudden I get a new phone and people keep telling me its nice...

It is weird... But sorta nice that people realized the amazingness of this phone.  Grin

Great job on the review!

I love when people see it and are like, ok, looks like a normal phone.  Then you pop out the keyboard and show the gestures and how you trash cards by flicking them up... people are amazed!

About the comment I made about two phones. I know he was testing them, my point was; I know people with two phones and they keep both. I also don't know how you could test both completely while using both at the same time. My mind would explode. Smiley I would use one for 15 days or so, then use the other and see if I miss anything from the first.

I also have both phones but in my case, I have 3.  One I use for my work, the other for my consulting Business I do off the side, and the other I use internationally, in places where both Verizon & Sprint do not have service.  I travel a lot for work and I actually like the iPhone, the Dare, & the Pixi but I still like my Pixi the most.

If there's one thing that I like about the iPhone 3GS is that it has a compass. The reason why is to have "augmented reality" apps, a phone needs a GPS AND a compass.

I agree, the most important thing the iPhone 3GS has is a compass Wink Although not many people will actually use it I think. Still, it's not enough reason for an iPhone Wink

I love that unbiased review comparison. Too bad the Pixi doesn't match up in certain areas like memory capacity and certain features like video recording and voice command. I'm kind of amazed that people actually pick the Pixi over the Iphone. That says a lot about this phone. It is also a matter of what features you use. Like if you like to shoot videos all the time, the Pixi wouldn't be a good phone for you. I really hope they come out with that feature soon. I also think it's funny that you mentioned that the Iphone is kinda "show-offy". Because I live in NY and ride the train and I've noticed that everyone who has an Iphone always has it out. Like in their hand. I always keep my phone in my pocket, but these pretentious New Yorkers love showing off their Iphone. It's funny because the Pixi kinda has a show-off quality too. Not that I intend to show off my phone, but a lot of people want to see it and see the multitasking feature. So it's great that you chose the Pixi. That means a lot more people may be choosing it over the Iphone. And as more people own this phone, we'll see more apps and accessories get developed for it.
