I've been a Palm device owner for years - dating back to the dark-glowy-green-screen, hard plastic flip-cover Palm III. I loved it! I evenutally gave it to a pastor friend who kept a tiny spiral notepad in his pocket at all times. The last I checked he was still investing in PDA's. My last devices were the Palm TX (last great Palm I've owned) and the Centro (disappointed from day one).
I've been recently torn between the iPhone and the Pixi. I own a ipod Touch 32gb and really enjoy it - but three things have pushed me back to Palm. Brand loyalty, Sprint v ATT, and great third-party reviews of the Pixi.
I know it's not a perfect device. After it was announced I waited for rumours of the NEXT device to have more memory, SD Card expansion, better hardware, etc... but they announced the Pixi (WHO'S PICKING THESE NAMES - GEORGE LUCAS' KIDS?). I've heard that the lasted Pixi's were made a little better - so I'm going for it. I've been researching, reading, browsing forums, anything I could find - making sure I was making a good decision.
A buddy at work declares Palm is going under and will drop support for the Pixi in short order - I won't be able to buy accessories for it anywhere, and I'll be sorry very soon. I told him I thought Palm would be around at LEAST as long as my 2 yr contract - and that I was used to the differences between ipod and palm accessories in Walmart... But it bugs me that he might be right.
Anyway... I'm going out to take my wife to work - and since I'm kinda sick I'm going to find and buy a Pixi - then spend the Looooong weekend getting to know my new device. If you are interested in my opinions, I'll share them. I'm excited!!!!
