is there a way to turn the screen of during the call...  i know this wasn't possible with the instinct that i'm replacing.  it drained battery, and caused unnecessary screen touches...  Angry

It should turn off automatically when you place it up to your face with the proximity sensor. Unless it's in speaker mode.

The proximity sensor does turn your screen off when you hold it to your ear! It turns back on when you take it away from your head.

yes - works great!  if you are on a call that requires number entry (like calling Sprint customer service) you do have to be careful about how you approach the screen with your hand to be accurate with data entry IF you do not go to speaker mode!
