Hi--new to the forum, hoping somebody can help me out.

I've only had the phone for 36 hours or so and already it has powered off randomly 5 or 6 times.  About 30 minutes after I bought it, the phone shut down completely and I couldn't restart or charge (at least not in my car).  Drove right back to the Sprint store and they replaced the battery and chastised me for not charging for 6 full hours on an A/C charger.  But since then it has randomly shut off...I can restart it but it usually takes one or two tries before the phone stays on.

Any help would be appreciated.

same issue here. it would lock up though at randomy and then restart. seems like its software related so hopefully a patch will fix it.

Sorry you're having the same problem.  It's kind of a ridiculous thing to deal with considering what we paid for the thing.  Can't decide if I should take it back for a new one...not even sure they have new ones to give at this point.

I'd try and get it replaced.

Have you updated the phone??...because there is a software update that came before the launch day...if you have not updated the phone, i would suggest hitting the launcher button, and locating the update icon...BUT if you have already updated the phone and you are still having the problem, take it back to the store u bought it from and DEMAND a replacement!..you are still within the 30-day trial period, so you have every right to do so.

if you updated your phone as soon as you bought it and it is still having the problem, return the phone for a new one....don't worry about the info you already entered on the phone because they are all saved in your palm profile.

I'm a technician at my brothers service center in PA so i'm not worried about breaking the phone at all or bugs. these things are expected when new devices come to market. from all the issues i've seen its pretty aparrent that 85-90% of the problems are software related.

new device new software model. this is all expected and just keep checking for software upgrades to address the bugs.

Thanks a lot--very helpful input.  Went back to Sprint today and was fortunate enough to speak the technician for quite a while...convinced me it was software and not hardware.  Didn't have any problems afterwards but I'm not holding my breath.  Gonna keep updating daily if I can.

I'm having the issue as well and have the latest update.  I'm also having it turn off when I slide down the keyboard.  Happen twice in a short period of time.

I don't want to go through the hassle of returning.  I like to stay clear of the stores as they are clueless to the operation of this phone.

some people where running into this because the battery was too loose in the compartment. when the slide was put down or up it would cause the battery to jump. there is a some what medieval fix, put a few small pieces of paper between the battery and the compartment to tighten it. there is a write up on the site somewhere.
