I tried installing some new apps this morning, but my Pixi told me that I was out of space even though I have over 2 GBs of memory available. This limited amount of memory really sux. Palm really screwed up on that one. When the official App Store comes out, I won't be able to fit a lot of apps onto my phone. Right now I have 35. I don't know what Palm was thinking giving us 8 GB of memory.

This error really doesnt have anything to do with the amount of memory the phone has, but how many apps (usually homebrews) you have installed.  Have you installed any of these?  You should really try and wait for a response before you bash PALM.  The apps usually do not take up a lot of space on the phone anyway, it is usually music/videos/pics that do this.

If you do have homebrew apps on your phone and are getting this message it is kind of a pain but the only way I have found to have all the apps you want from both locations is to delete a few homebrews off of your phone and then add the ones you want from the Palm app store then go back and side load the homebrew apps you deleted. I am not sure exactly why this works but it has worked for me every time. Hopefully this will get addressed in an update so we don't have to go through that process everytime we want new apps from the Palm app store.

I highly doubt the PALM is going to spend a lot of time fixing an error that occurs from the installation of homebrew apps, but I could be wrong.   :Smiley

I don't think it's all due to the homebrews. I got the message when I didn't have any HB's installed. I found that moving apps off of the first launcher page works for me sometimes.

Interesting...most of the complaints of this were from people who had installed a ton of homebrew apps.  I have never had this myself, but I don't go app crazy.  If I don't use it all the time, I don't want it on my phone.  And with filecoaster, if you have a one time need for an app, it is easy enough to just download it, use it, and then get rid of it.

I'm the same way. I don't like too many 'what if' apps on my phone. For those of you that don't know, a 'what if' app is an app where you get it thinking 'what if I am stuck in quicksand(or whatever rare scenario you may choose)? This app would really be useful...' Iphone app commercials thrive on this type of mindset with their 'There's an app for that'. Most of the apps that solve these types of problems can easily be replaced by a web browser and google.

You guys are wrong. I don't have any homebrew apps. They're all from the App Catalog. So it's not a homebrew problem. My problem is that I have 2.6 GB of memory but my phone won't let me install new apps cuz I'm "out of memory". My second complaint is that this phone only has 8 GB of memory. This is a great phone, but y limit it to 8 GB of memory? It's like buying a 60 inch HDTV, but the only channel you have is Lifetime.

I already said it is not a homebrew problem...

It is a bug in the system.I have like 7 gigs left and I still get it.   Not sure if it got fixed in 1.2 ....I guess I'll wait and see if I get the message again.

As for only having 8 gigs. It is a disappointment.  But we all knew(or should have) that that is all it was going to have. I don't have much of my music on my Pixi(I have over 300 gigs of it on my home computer) as I use Pandora if I want to listen to music. And I load videos as I need them, for trips, etc. From my Ipod experience I find that I never really watch them more than once on the device anyway. With all of this, I am not too concerned about my memory filling up too quickly.

That said, everyone is different and I totally understand the need for an all in one solution to put everything on. The next gen will undoubtedly have more memory and possibly an SD slot(wishful thinking). My only advice, for now, is to be selective as to what you put on it. That's really our only option as Pixi users Wink

EDIT:
It was not fixed in the 1.2 update.

There is now a work around to this issue:

I have 7 gigs free and the new update doesn't allow me to install new apps.  very frustrating.  definitely must be a bug.  even if i delete a few apps, it's still telling me the same message.

Why am I having this install problem with the update?  All previous versions installed apps fine no matter how many I have.  Now I have already deleted three programs but still it doesn't allow me to add anymore even with 7.1 gigs free.
