Does it bother you? If yes, have it repaired! If you couldn't care less don't.. it depends on what you want Wink

Not really. I like the quicker access to connect the charger.
My only concern is harming the device; dust, lint  etc...

Mine never did fit properly and eventually fell off.  No other cell phone I ever had had a cover for the charger....my BlackBerry had a USB port with no cover.  Aside from the obvious aesthetics, I really don't see it as a problem.

When I first got the phone, I honestly thought I was going to break the cover off as I tried to get it off. I didn't luckily, but mine just hasn't fit back in quite right. The side that stays connected(via the plastic 'string') doesn't lie flat like it did when I first got it, no matter how hard I press it back in. Not a big deal, just annoying.

Ahh yeah same here I actually am considering jusr cutting it off too when I open it I always think I'm gonna rip the phone apart. My htc mogul and htc touch pro were designed with no cover on the charge port and I had no issue with dust. I'm not spending money on a wireless charger (with a wire) also I had to cut my thumb nail to use the keyboard lol.

Don't cut the darn thing off or you'll leave a piece of plastic loose inside.  I opened mine to charge the other day and tipped the phone sideways and the door fell off on its own.  It just has a tiny enlargement on the end of the plastic string to anchor it inside.  Very flimsy.  I can put it back in but it never holds anymore and falls out again.  The door does seal but doesn't lay flush anymore.  Surely someone has a baggie of these stupid things laying around a warehouse somewhere!!  Sprint was no help to me when went in to the store.  They said it was broken by my "abuse".  Um...sorry, I've had the phone just under a month and have always babied that door.  Sprint emailed that I should talk to Palm.  That's all well and good but I refuse to spend $15 for a phone call to talk to them.  I'm happy to pay for a handful of replacement doors but need to figure out an email address to request them first.

Getting a free replacement port cover from Palm (called their Customer Support). I'll post when I actually get it.

In regards to the port on the left or right side..whether it was geared for right handed people or not, I don't think your phone requires fine motor skills, making it is easy to switch hands/ears to adjust to it charging. But maybe thats just me...a lefty who is used to adjusting to right handed things everyday lol. You right handed people act so spoiled  Tongue

Mine came off completely last Friday. I was relieved, actually. Now I don't have to mess with it anymore.

Mine came off a week or so ago. Its even more of a pain now because I can't stand having a hole in the side of my phone.
