I also saw on a tear down pic that the mositure indicator is located just below the micro USB connector. Might be best to keep the cover.
Wonder why they didn't put one on the headphone port too?

Probably because they think we were going to use it as a MP3 player more than charging it via USB cable... If its hard to open, people may consider going for the Touchstone instead.... maybe it was a marketing strategy

When I first got the phone, I honestly thought I was going to break the cover off as I tried to get it off. I didn't luckily, but mine just hasn't fit back in quite right. The side that stays connected(via the plastic 'string') doesn't lie flat like it did when I first got it, no matter how hard I press it back in. Not a big deal, just annoying.
Ahh yeah same here I actually am considering jusr cutting it off too when I open it I always think I'm gonna rip the phone apart. My htc mogul and htc touch pro were designed with no cover on the charge port and I had no issue with dust. I'm not spending money on a wireless charger (with a wire) also I had to cut my thumb nail to use the keyboard lol.

I actually think it's much mroe annoying having that port on the right. Makes it a pain in the butt to hold the phone when you are charging it (compared to left, or bottom.)

I agree 100% im not sure what the methodology behind that was because most people are right handed... it makes it almost impossible to talk on the while it charges. I'm just going to chalk that up to poor design and or trying to make people buy a touchstone.

I thought the USB cover was really tight until I realized that I wasn't opening it all the way. Once you open it, it actually has a longer piece of plastic that makes it sort of "hang" there. It shouldn't be tight, actually. Once you open it and pull it back, then gently pull it straight out...you will see what I mean. Once I realized that, I have no problems.

Yeah I dont like pulling it out all the way... Makes me think I'm gonna break it off.

It is tough to use the phone when it is plugged in. I guess that whole curved slide design limited a lot of stuff, like the Micro SD port.

I've been plugging it in all the time (opening the slider first) since day 1.
Yesterday I got scared because instead of just rotating it, I actually pulled it out. But to my surprise it's got a plastic "pole" attached to it. So you can actually pull out the cover from the phone quite a bit so it's not clinging to the side of the phone.
This was new to me, but maybe that cover on my phone just needed to be used a bit to loosen it up.

If you don't pull it out all the way, you risk putting too much stress on the plastic tab thingy(that's the technical term ), eventually breaking it off. And judging from the plastic used, I'd give it a month or two....unless you are just rotating it up...then it may last a little longer.

you could buy the touchstone! I've eventually had connection problems with all my phones after a while of use and charging every night. dont know how the pre will hold up but my plugs would always stop working or i'd have to put them a certain way with a book on them or something to keep it charging. Now i just drop it on the magic stone.
