I keep reading things about the screen, being that it will be plastic, pitting it against a glass screen.

Scratches, cracks, etc.

Is anyone worried about the durability of the screen?

To be honest I'm a little worried.. not so much though about the scratch resistence, more about the feeling of it. Glass seems to be a little more "high quality". We will see.

I'm definitely getting a shield for the screen, but I do wonder how durable a plastic screen is going to be.  I think palms and treos have always had glass screens.

The closer this gets to release, the more we hear about the durability of the Pixi. I'm curious about getting my hands on it to see how I like the feel. I'm just worried that something about it will disappoint me(feel, touch response, etc). I hope not. I've waited to long for this thing to be a bomb. Undecided

Have you used it? How does it affect touch response?

Until the pre is released, we will not know how well it responds with the Invisible Shield(or whatever skin you choose) on it. It should not make that much of a difference, but after watching the vids, the touch response has not been very sensitive. There have been plenty of times where the rep had to tap 2-3 times to get it to respond. So putting a skin on it may actually make it even less responsive.

I plan on buying an IS for mine, by the way.

Invisibility screen aside, it may protect it from scratches, but cracks?  None of us intend to drop our phones, but we know it inevitably does happen.

well no, I havent used it. But alot of people have on Iphones, and other touch devices, and their are no claims of making it less responsive.

Could be nice if Palm, or one of the providers offered a Pixi-shielded ...

You mean as a partnership between Palm/Sprint and Zagg, for example?

You know, someone has to put that thing on VERY carefully. I'd rather do that myself than having a bored employee messing it up. Wink

glass cracks/shatters quicker than plastic, but plastic is more susceptible to scratches. Palm reps have said that the Pixi is suppose to get some kind of anti-scratch coating in production.

Hm, don't you think the early versions that have been given away for testing already had this kind of coating? I would think so..
