Is there any way to turn off the "shutter" (noise) sound whenever you take a picture?

Turning the sound down does not make any difference.

if you flick the ringer switch (hard switch on the top) off it will not make a shutter sound, then you can flick it back on.

supposedly there is a law that prevents shutting off the camera sound in cellphones...

That's why most phones now don't have the feature to disable it completely...

I didnt know that it will be off if you turn the ringer off. In most phones I dealt with, even in silence mode, there will be a shutter sound...

It isn't in effect yet, but it may be coming.

i'm sure it will just require a small change in the code, and our wiki homebrew folks will take care of it in the quick installer.  does anyone know if you can see the source code of apps on the phone - like the camera, dialer, nav, etc?

there is now a patch in preware to disable the shutter sound, you get two buttons in the camera app, one without shutter noise and the other is the normal default one
